BALLAGHADERREEN U15s DEFEATED BY BALLINA
Ballaghaderreen were beaten 3-6 to 2-5 by Ballina in the County under 15 semi-final played in Charlestown. Ballaghaderreen put up a very good performance on the day but didn't make the most of their possession. Ballina had a very good experienced side and were expected to win this game but Ballaghaderreen did very well on the run of play and got a lot of possession, some of which they failed to convert into scores. Ballina were playing with the wind in the first half and were up seven points at half time. They got off to a good start and were leading by 3-3 to 1-2. However, Ballaghaderreen came back in the second half but ran out of time in the end. This was their final game in the championship and they did very well to get to the semi-final. Well done to them on their performance. On the team were; Fergal O'Gara, Peter Flannery, Martin Fleming, Michael Mulligan, Martin Hannan, Alan Durkan, Eamonn Colleran, Joseph McCann, Stephen Drake (0-3), James Kilcullen, Andrew Moran (0-2), Luke Colleran, Joseph Dillon (1-0), Scan Mangan (1-0) and Eamonn Durkan. Ballina take on Kikmaine in the final.
BALLAGRADERREEN DEFEAT BALLYMOE
Ballaghaderreen had a great 4-2 win over Ballymoe Rangers on Sunday last and showed the strength of their squad in this game. Although missing four regulars through injury and suspensions, they showed how strong they were and overcame a good Ballymoe side at the local pitch. Ace striker, Ian Towey was again the hero, scoring a hat trick and bringing his tally for the season to 12 goals. The only goal of the first half came after twenty minutes, a typical Ian Towey goal, cutting in from the left wing and hitting a rising volley to the roof of the net. Ballaghaderreen dominated the second half and were two up inside ten minutes when Luke Geever broke through and, although the keeper saved well initially, Geever was on hand to slam in the rebound. Shortly afterwards, Towey made the game safe when after cruising around the defenders, he finished with aplomb. Goal number four and Towey's third was another stunning effort, a thirty yard drive just inside the right hand post.

ST. NATHYS TRANSITION YEAR TRIP TO DUBLIN
Last Tuesday St. Nathy's Transition Year students, along with some 3rd Years travelled to Dublin to attend the exhibition of the Irish Energy Centre at the Basketball Arena in Tallagh. The exhibition focused on energy conservation and awareness of renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. The exhibition highlighted the need to be more energy efficient in our homes, schools and workplace. Numerous companies had their samples on show. Each stand showed how energy efficient they were and how much money they saved due to this. Each stand gave 15 minutes to the students to learn more about the processes carried out. Among the stands were E.S.B., Tara Mines, Virgin, Aer Rianta, Yamanouchi, E.N.F.O., Wellman International, E.P.A. and Virginia Milk Products. We found the exhibition great fun and educational and left the arena laden down with free biros, information sheets and pencils. On the same day we managed to pack in an interesting trip to Dublin Zoo Ecology Centre. We were given a guided tour of all aspects of ecology in the zoo. Finally the day ended on a happy note, about 60 students invaded the New Liffey Valley Shopping Centre where we spent all our money! Students would like to thank Ms. Fitzpatrick (science teacher) and Mrs. Flatley for their trip which was really enjoyed by all.
