ST. NATHYS JUVENILES WIN
The St Nathy's juvenile team recently had a great 0-14 to 0-2 win over St Louis, Kiltimagh last week. St Nathy's were missing a few key players and did very well to win comfortably on the day. The game was evenly contested for the first ten minutes. It was nail and tooth and could have gone either way with both sides battling hard. St Nathy's then began to spread the ball wide out to the wings and this gave Joseph Dillon and David Loftus a chance to get into the game. St Nathy's took the game to St Louis and started to dominate midfield at that stage. The midfielders were giving good ball to Kevin O'Connor and Adrian Hardiman. Adrian Hardiman played very well at full forward and Loftus was getting better in the middle of the field and doing lots of damage as the game went on. The backs got well on top especially Pat Fleming at corner back and Barry Maguire who was switched from wing back to centre back and did very well in that position. Ballaghaderreen were five or six points up at half time and led by 0-6 to 0-2 at that stage. In the second half, it was really one-way traffic. Ballaghaderreen dominated the middle of the field and the back line. The backs didn't concede any scores at all in the second half. They missed some chances up front but still did enough to win. The goalie, Gary Mangan had a very good game and saved a penalty. Connor Cooney scored the best point of the game with a great shot from the wings.
The win was a very good achievement for the St Nathy's side. They only went out with eighteen players as some of the panel were missing and they fielded a very young team. There was some very good football played on the day. Kiltimagh had a physically strong side but Ballaghaderreen played the better game. The scorers were as follows; Joseph Dillon (0-6), David Loftus (0-3), Adrian Hardiman (0-3), Kevin O'Connor (0-1).
ST NATHY'S BEAT KILTIMACH
St Nathy's had a great win over St Louis, Kiltimagh in the first round of the Senior B Colleges championship. They defeated them by 3-13 to 2-5. St Nathy's were the better team on the day but it took them a long time to pull away from the opposition. Kiltimagh got an early goal which put them ahead and they battled very hard. However, St Nathys took the initiative soon after that with Keith Mahon, Andrew Moran, David McHugh and Eamonn Towey to the fore. Despite, Kiltimagh's best efforts, they were unable to halt the Ballaghaderreen challenge and St Nathy's ran out deserving winners in the end. On the St Nathy's team were; Derek Barrett, John Carry, Jospeh McCann, Thomas Naughton, Eamonn Towey, Keith Mahon , Keith Johnston, David McNulty, Andrew Moran, Michael Solan, Derek Moran, (1-2), Kenneth Duffy, (0-1), Pat O'Gara (0-2), John Mitchell (0-5) and Sean Mangan (1-3). Subs; Barry Regan, Mark Drury, Kieran Lynn (1-0). St Nathy's also beat Westport in the Mayo Colleges championship by 1-11 to 1-8 in a close contest.

COMMUNITY PARK PROPOSALS
Ballaghaderreen Community Park had a meeting earlier this year, attended by representatives of various sporting bodies in the area. A committee was formed with a view to developing the old sporting field on Convent Road. The aim of the committee is to provide a proper place with ,dressing rooms and parking spaces so as to enable the field to be used by the people of the area for sporting and recreational purposes. The two present trustees indicated their willingness to facilitate the development by transmitting administration of the field to three new trustees, representative of the people of the area, and it is hoped that legal formalities will be completed within the next few weeks and at that stage the Committee will be in position to draw up definite proposals for the field.
